Photo Diary: HOGWARTS IN THE SNOW

I don't think I have ever been as excited for a blog post as I am for this one! Yesterday, I travelled to the outskirts of London and visited the Warner Bros Studio Tour: The Making Of Harry Potter and oh my goodness me it was the most magical and beautiful place I have ever been! It was all dressed up for Christmas, covered in snow. When I walked in the first thing you could see was the absolutely stunning Christmas tree which I took a unnormal amount of photos of it! Everything was amazing but my favourite parts were opening the Grand Hall doors because I was celebrating my birthday ( my actual birthday is this Tuesday), flying in Ron's car and on a broom, Platform 9 3/4 and the end model of Hogwarts, which is utterly gobsmacking! I brought lots of things in the shop as well, which I can show you in a birthday haul, next week if you like! If you like Harry potter I totally recommend you go, it's totally worth it! Sorry if you think this is an overload of photos! I took so many it was hard to narrow it down! ENJOY!

Base Products For Pale Skin & How To Find Your Perfect Foundation Match

Pale drugstore UK foundations matching skin foundation match tips

I have pale skin and although I might not be quite as pale as Snow white ( Although I am pretty close!) Most drugstore makeup brands insist on not developing a wide enough shade range to cater for us Snow whites out there! You pick up their porcelain or ivory, thinking that it should be okay, shouldn't it? I mean it is the lightest shade, it will match, right? After forking out on it, you get it home and realise that it literally looks like you have rolled around in a bag of wotsits and basically that foundation is never going to see the light of day again!!! So to minimise the number of times this happens for you guys, I thought I would share with you some of my foundation matching tips and pale people base product recommendations, that have all been tried and tested by yours truly!

FOUNDATION MATCHING TIPS

#1 ARE YOU COOL OR WARM TONED?

It's really not a big deal whichever one you are, however, in regards to foundation matching, it can make a world of difference. If you have blue veins you are likely to be cool toned and if they seem more greenish, then you are are warm toned! This is really handy to know when you are shopping for a new foundation and they have a system which is based upon this, such as the Loreal True Match. If you are pale, you are more likely to have cool undertones and vice versa for warm undertones.

#2 DON'T APPLY IT TO THE BACK OF YOUR HAND

Boots and Superdrug are very sneaky and the lighting within the shop is artificial, to make the shop brighter and more welcoming, which is all lovely and nice until it comes to buying foundations. Applying it to the back of your hand will just blend into your natural skin colour. Instead. apply it to your neck and either take a buddy or if you are always alone and have no friends, take a mirror and walk outside to see what it looks like on!

#3 IF ITS HIGHEND GET TESTERS

When buying anything high-end but especially base products, ask if you could have a tester first. Don't let them match you up because they will 90% of the time match you with the lightest shade even though that might not be your real match! It makes me want to cry thinking about all the money wasted on high-end foundations that people don't use because they are the wrong shade!

#4 GO FOR FOUNDATIONS WITH A LARGE RANGE OF SHADES

This can be hard because so many foundations have such amazing claims but unfortunately if you can't use it because it doesn't match your skin then what's the point in buying it in the first place! I tend to go with foundations where their USP is match or skin protection because you known they have probably taken more time over making sure that there is a match for  most skin tones than just the basic bog standard three shades. This will, therefore, hopefully, increase your chances of finding something that actually matches!

MY RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PALE SKIN:

* Loreal true match- C1. Rose Ivory
* Rimmel match perfection- Light porcelain
* Rimmel BB Cream- Very Light
* Rimmel stay matte- 001 Transparent
* Natural collection powder- Netural

I hope all you pale people out there found this somewhat useful and maybe maFE the task of going foundation shopping a little less excruciating!

If you have any other tips or recommendations of products to suit pale skin, do me and others know in the comments below, I am sure it would be very helpful!

5 A/W Beauty Staples

5 A/W Beauty Staples lipstick blogger beauty

Long time, No beauty post, eh? I haven't done a beauty or makeup post in a while now so I thought I would do one today, talking about some of my favourite beauty staples for the autumn and winter period, as you really enjoyed my 5 A/W Fashion Staples which you can check out here if you missed it!  I would do a whole post about autumn lipsticks but I am not cool enough to own that many! #sadtimes, so anyway I hope you enjoy this quick run down of my beauty staples

#1 HAND CREAM

I use my hand cream all year around because I don't want to be nicknamed, scaly hands or lizard ( Not that I have had any personal experience with that or anyway, haha) however, in the winter my hands get super dry plus if you work with children you find yourself constantly washing your hands, what feels like 100 times a day! My personal faves are the good old' blogger favourites Hand food and Hand dream, which are both from Soap and Glory because let's face it, we all get lumbered with them at Christmas and it takes us till next Christmas to use them up!

#2 AUTUMN LIPS

If I was a true beauty blogger I would be screaming to you about how much I love my Rimmel Kate Moss 107 or my MAC velvet teddy but as I said before definitely not cool enough to do that, so instead here are some of my faves Models own lipstix in coral kiss, the one behind is an Avon one, in something rose or something ( Yes that lipstick is upstairs and I am too lazy to go and find the name) The others are a Ted Baker lipgloss in red and a Topshop, lip bullet in Joyride ( see, I didn't do that bad?)  Don't  hate me you professional beauty bloggers!

#3 GOOD SKINCARE ROUTINE

Winter is the time I make sure that I give my face some TLC. Walking back from college in the dark, cold and wind really irritates my skin by making it look all blotchy so I ensure I wack out that moisturiser twice a day to keep my skin all smooth and soft ( Who am I kidding? I attempt to apply a good skincare routine everyday, when in fact I forget 90% of the time and saying that I do makes me seem more professional and like I actually know what I am on about)

#4 LONG LASHES

There's you thinking I was going to talk about autumnal eyeshadows, my browns and golds while talking about my beloved collection eyes uncovered palette instead I thought I would live life on the edge and talk about long lashes! Long lashes are perfect for all those nonexistence parties I go to around Christmas and new year! I do love Roller lash and yes this is the sample that was handed out in March with Elle magazine at the start of the year and yes I have only kept it because it looks good in photos and I am too poor to afford to buy the real thing!

Barry M blush blogger winter staples

#5 DARK BLUSH

Now I have no knowledge in describing shades of products to you guys but I will give it my best shot! I love a dark, kind of cranberry, cool toned, not quite pink but lighter than black blush! ( Can you imagine if black blush was a thing) yeah, I failed at that! My favourite is this Barry M blush, which I have no idea what the name is but if you are really interested you can scroll back through my old posts and I am sure you will find it somewhere! It allows you to look nice and jewey without going on a long and sweaty run!

Thanks for reading! If you actually came here for some real beauty advice, I hope you weren't too disappointed! I hope you enjoyed it anyway!

5 A/W Fashion Staples

fashion blogging autumn staples winter

I do love fashion, but predominantly Autumn/ winter fashion. I don't know there is just something about the colours and the cosy outfits that make A/W fashion so well just lovely. So today I thought I would share with you five fashion Staples that make my autumn and winter wardoble complete. I would also like to apologise on a quick side note, I am being a rubbish blogger at the moment. I have a million essays to write ( that is no exaggeration, well maybe) and I don't have time to comment on all your lovely blog posts you guys have been uploading or respond to comments straight away. I am trying to utilise my time the best I can but when you are doing 3/4 A levels equivalent in essay form it can be hard to make time for blogging. I do hope you understand that there is not going to be any structured schedule for the mean time!

#1  Cosy Winter Jumpers
Please tell me I am not the only person who genuinely gets excited about going into the high Street shops ( let's face it, Primark) and aimlessly staring at all the new Jumpers feeling the urge to stroke and feel them because you insist on telling the people you are with just how soft they are!! No, just me?! Okay! This jumper is funny enough from Primark. I love the ' fisherman/ old grannie' style which you know is in fashion! This jumper is super thick and Cosy plus I brought it super recently, so you can check it out! ( which is apparently what cool/ up to date fashion bloggers do)

#2 Coat's
I love Coat's! But I also don't have many because I am a super fussy of the specification of each coat. I love a good parka,
though, this one being from Primark is just the standard generic design really, but it is super Cosy and versatile. I love wearing them with dresses, jeans, skirts you name it! I am getting this super gorgeous coat for Christmas and I can't wait to show you all in the new year.

#3Tartan scarfs
Not just any old scarfs, oh no Tartan scarfs! This one is a personal fave of mine, it was originally my mums but I kinda stole it, shhhh..... It was originally from C&A which I suspect many of you haven't got a clue what I'm on about. It's super thin and to be honest with you, is more of a style accessory then a slightly thicker scarf that may of actually of kept you warm. Nonetheless, it is perfect for the beginning of autumn when it's chilly in the morning but rather pleasant in the afternoon.

#4 Chelsea Boots

I have never had a pair of Chelsea Boots before, umm..that was a mistake it in self! I don't think I have taken them off my feet since I bought them ( obviously I have because I am not Luna Lovegood who wears shoes to bed because she sleepwalks) anyway, these ones are from NewLook and they are an absolute gem! They are so comfortable, they literally go with everything and I know for sure that I will be buying many more of these in the future.

#5 fuffy Socks
Now I feel like I am cheating with this one because I don't think I would be wearing them out the house any time soon but you know, they are a Staple nonetheless. These ones are from Primark, the holy grail shop for all things Fluffy sock related!!! You got to love Primark and their fluffy sock range! I usually just wear these in the cold evenings, not really a sock to bed kind of person, which I know is a big controversial debate in the blogging world.

That's it! I do hope you enjoyed this quick run down of my autumn/ winter fashion staples/ Please do let me know your's in the comments below x
