The Lipstick Edit

The Lipstick Edit MAC Channel Reviews Velvet Teddy Diva Girl About Town
Thanks, to my lovely nan at the end of last year I had £50 to spend at Debenhams. Something I would never normally have. So before anyone jumps up and down- all the lipsticks featured in this post were a present/ treat and by no means do I think that you can't get an affordable and just as good lipstick from the drugstore! So now we have got that cleared up, we can just sit and cry at the fact that four lipsticks I own come to £72 pounds?!! But hey, I thought I would give you guys a quick review anyway! Enjoy!

Okay, so prior to the end of last year, I did not own any MAC lipsticks! I have now well and truly lost than virginity as I own three! But I can justify this because they are all completely different colours! I once lusted over everyone else's MAC lipstick collections and now I can see myself building up a bit of a collection! #sorrynotsorry. They are £15.50 each, which is way too much for a lipstick but they are so worth it!

#1 VELVET TEDDY

Okay, so this one wasn't actually brought using the gift card it was a present from my auntie for Christmas, which was featured on my what I got for Christmas, you can check out HERE! Technically, it was the first MAC lipstick I ever owned and I am so glad it was! I don't want to be another teenage girl who is obsessed over the ' 90's Kylie Jenner nude' but seriously it is a stunning colour! It's a perfect colour if you don't want to go all out with your lipstick choice! It's a matte, so there is no way I can sit in and tell you it's not drying! It is a bit drying, but it clings to your lips resulting in the colour lasting an awfully long time. It is also super easy to apply, perfect if you suck at applying lipstick like myself! I tend to apply all my lipstick over a lip balm! I don't know if this is supposed to have any impact but I do think this colour makes my lips look bigger! I don't know if I am saying that because I am conditioned to think so, though!

#2 DIVA

When I saw Kat from chapters of Kat talking about this on her blog, I just had to pick it up! It's such a pretty colour, something I definitely would not have gone for if I had not seen in on her blog! It's a cross between a red/ brown/ plum colour! Yeah, I know that wasn't the best description but honestly it's worth swatching it if you have the chance! I think it would really suit pale skin, it suits me and you know I have snow white pale skin! Again, it's a matte so it is drying but the longevity of the colour is amazing! I would recommend taking it with you and reapplying it after a couple of hours. I didn't and it kind of left a wired line on my lips. It wasn't that noticeable and it was probably my own fault! I would also recommend using a lip liner with this shade just because I found it quite hard to apply! I don't know of any suitable lipliners so if you do please let me know in the comments below!

#3 GIRL ABOUT TOWN

Unlike velvet teddy, I don't hear people talking about this shade very much! It is a bright pink, so maybe that is why! However, when I was researching this colour on the internet it looked really bright on everyone but on me it doesn't! Don't quite know why, but it doesn't! This shade is an amplified cremesheen! Now I don't want to sound really thick here but I have no idea what that means and I can't tell any difference from the two matte lipsticks I own! It is a bit drying but it doesn't start to dry as quickly as the mattes, so maybe that is it! Anyway, like the others, it is a super lovely color and is also really easy to apply like velvet teddy! I was also supper worried it was going to get on my teeth but it didn't buge all day! Overall, a big thumbs up from me! I did use a lipliner with this lipstick though and it worked really well! I also once applied a Rimell oh my gloss lipgloss over the top and it looked stunning!

#4 CHANEL ROUGE MADEMOISELLE

Okay, so this lipstick is £26.50 and I don't know if it's actually worth that but you know me I like to be real with you guys! The packaging is extremely aesthetically pleasing and the fact that it has Chanel engraved in the lipstick just totally wins me over! I totally love the colour I picked! It's such an everyday colour that you definitely don't need a mirror or even a lip liner to go with it! However, I do have a bit of an issue before I even left the house it was already starting to dry on the lips and my mid morning there was nothing left! Now, I don't know if this was because I hadn't applied a lip balm before hand or what but overall I am not overly impressed. It looks so good when you first apply it but then it just goes rapidly downhill after that! I definitely need to give it a few more go's before I jump to conclusions! ( After writing this, I did give it a few more go's and I would recommend applying a clear lipgloss over the top if you don't want to end up with really dry lips)
