Jewellery With a Conscience | Kuma Jewellery

Jewellery With a Conscience | Kuma Jewellery

I don't know about you guys, but I love finding unique shops that sell beautiful gifts, where you can tell they focus on quality over quantity. What with globalisation these days, it is becoming harder and harder to find this kind of handcrafted, bespoke gifts in a market of mass-produced goods which although are cheap and accessible, lack that personality and individuality.

I'm always on the lookout for this kind of shop because I'm always about supporting the little guys, so when Kuma got in touch with me, I was so excited. Kuma is a jewellery and accessory brand where every item is handmade, in Estonia. For me, this is such a bonus. I'm always trying to shop more ethically. So knowing that these beautiful pieces are all handmade excites me greatly.

To add to that, all of Kuma's jewellery is made from vegan leather, which is great for animals but also means that you get to wear stunning jewellery with a strong and durable base. They also use no animal products or by-products in the production process or packaging, which gets a big thumbs up from me.

Kuma sells a wide range of accessories and jewellery, all of which is handmade. Items they sell include; necklaces, earrings and brooches. I was very lucky enough to be gifted two beautiful sets of earrings. The ones I am wearing are Yellow bumblebee earrings* and the prosperity earings*

When I opened the box, when they arrived (which was very quickly in fact) I had to hide them from my mum. She fell in love the minute she saw them, just like me and I had to make sure that she didn't run off with them. I will definitely be getting some for her, for mothers day! No doubt about it.

So why did myself and my mum fall in love so quickly with them? For me, it was the beautiful colours that stood out right away. They have so many different colours and designs of earrings so I'm sure you will find some right up you're street.

I continued to be impressed when I wore them out and about. Practically they are equally as great. They are easy to wear, easy to put on and super comfortable too. Some certain types of earrings can really irritate my ears but I didn't find these Kuma ones did this at all.

I'm normally a hoops kind of gal when it comes to earrings, so I have to admit these were a little bit out of my comfort zone. However, I think I am converted to studs. I got so many compliments when I wore these out. Everyone was asking me where they were from.

They were even more surprised when I told them just how little they cost. The earrings I am wearing, cost just £22 which I think is incredible considering they are all handmade. Although you may be able to get six hoops for a £1 from Primark, which yes I am guilty of buying, you just know that they are not going to last.

All of my cheap earings wear out over time, with constant use but I know that these Kuma earings are going to be with me for the long term. Even with just a simple touch and feel, you can tell how wonderfully well they are made.

When it comes to shopping at small, independent, handcrafted shops, I think it is really interesting to get to know the story behind the creation. Kuma was founded by Mari Ojasaar who has been an independent artist for 10 years. Mari was inspired by watching her mum create beautiful handmade leather accessories just to get by. As she caught the creative bug, she wanted to prove that practically can be met by the handcrafted. With the aim of making the ordinary into the extraordinary, Kuma was born.

I honestly couldn't recommend Kuma enough to anyone. As I have already said, I am going to be getting my hands on a pair of earrings for my mum, for mothers day. All of the items they sell would make perfect gifts for birthdays, Christmas or even just to yourself.

I always feel great when I'm wearing ethically made and sourced fashion and jewellery. Not only am I feeling super confident and stylish because I know what I am wearing looks great but I also know I haven't done any damage to the environment by choosing to buy from this store.

If you are wanting to start a journey on being more ethical with what you wear or how you lead your life, you shouldn't have to let your style or purse suffer. Kuma has definitely got your back with this. Don't delay and pick up some of their beautiful ethical jewellery, inspired by mother nature herself, today.

I really hope you guys enjoyed this post. Let me know in the comments, where your favourite place is to buy ethical fashion, jewellery or accessories? I am always on the hunt for new ethical shops.

Thanks for reading, as always X

* These items have been kindly gifted to me by Kuma and this is a sponsored post, however, all opinions are my own and I wouldn't recommend anything that I didn't love and use myself.
