Finding Mindfulness in Nature By Nina Smiley and David Harp | Book Review

Life is very odd right now to say the least. It is safe to say that 2020 isn't going to be anyone's favourite year by far. But we are here and we have to deal with the situation we have been given. Which is why it is more important than ever to look after your mental health. Today I'm going to be reviewing Finding Mindfulness in Nature, a book which aims to help you do just that. Thank you Trigger Press* for sending over a copy.

What is Finding Mindfulness in Nature about:

Mindfulness experts Dr Nina Smiley and David Harp have created a simple little book that provides meaningful ways to nurture ourselves through meditation and a connection with the outdoors whether it be in the city or in the countryside.

Each mindful practice featured is inspired by quotes from dozens of notable authors, philosophers and poets such as Emily Dickinson, Lao Tzu, Aristotle, William Blake and Charles Dickens on the important themes of nature, spirituality, simple beauty and joyful living.

This book is for anyone, novice or expert to help them explore the remarkable opportunities for personal growth available through a deeper, more fulfilling relationship with the natural world gained through easy accessible meditation practices.

More than just a walk in the woods, Finding Mindfulness in Nature is a carefully crafted and deliberate approach to achieve better health and well-being and is ideal for all ages.

What I liked about Finding Mindfulness in Nature:

I think this book is the perfect starting point for anyone who is looking to get into mindfulness particularly mindfulness outdoors. It is full of some really easy, simple to follow instructions and exercises to help you practice mindfulness outside.

Although we may not be able to go outside much at the moment, mindfulness in nature can still be practiced in your garden or local park when you go for a walk.

I really liked all the quotes in this book. I found them really inspiring and will definitely be helpful for anyone looking to get into practicing mindfulness in nature.

I already knew a lot about mindfulness but I've never really thought about mindfulness in nature in much detail before, so I definitely learnt a lot from this book and I know that it will be helpful to so many others too.

We all need to pay a bit more attention to our mental health right now, and personally I don't think this book could have come at a better time to do just that.

What I didn't like about Finding Mindfulness in Nature:

Honestly, I don't have any complaints with this book at all. If you already are aware of mindfulness in nature then maybe this guide may be too simplistic for you, but for beginners like myself, this book is absolutely perfect.

Who would I recommend Finding Mindfulness in Nature:

Honestly every human being! We all need to be taking care of our mental health right now and this is the perfect book to help you do just that. Although our movements outside my be restricted right now, this book gives you great tips on how to make the most of the nature you have around you.

Final thoughts:

I loved this book. I gave it four stars and I really think its such a simple and easy to follow guide for those who are looking to learn how to practice mindfulness in nature.
