The Babysitter By Phoebe Morgan | Book Review

If you are on the hunt for a  great domestic thriller to read this summer, then you are going to want to carry on reading, as today I'm taking part in the blog tour for The Babysitter by Phoebe Morgan. This e-arc was kindly sent to me for review by HQ books*. This is definitely the perfect domestic thriller to read on your summer holiday this year.

What is The Babysitter About?

On the hottest day of the year, Caroline Harvey is found dead in Suffolk. Her body is left draped over a cot – but the baby she was looking after is missing.

Hundreds of miles away, Siobhan Dillon is on a luxurious family holiday in France when her husband, Callum, is arrested by French police on suspicion of murder.

As Siobhan’s perfect family is torn apart by the media in the nation’s frantic search for the missing baby, she desperately tries to piece together how Callum knew Caroline.

What happened that night? Was Caroline as innocent as she seemed – or was she hiding a secret of her own?

What I liked about The Babysitter?

This was a really interesting domestic thriller. I really enjoyed the writing style, I thought it was very engaging and it kept me wanting to read till the end to find out what happened. It definitely had me hooked.

I particularly liked the setting of this book. Given that it partly takes place on holiday in France and the events in the book occur on the hottest day of the year, during a heat wave, I think this would be the perfect domestic thriller to enjoy while relaxing on a summer holiday.

If you like domestic thrillers, I think you'll really enjoy this one. I did see the ending coming, but that did not annoy me at all, but if you are new to domestic thrillers I don't think you'll be able to guess. I highly recommend this really well written domestic thriller.

What did I not like about The Babysitter?

I really enjoyed this book. As I've already said, I did see the ending coming which may be disappointing to some but it rarely annoys me. I do think the ending was slightly longer than it needed to be. But honestly, apart from that it was a fun, quick to read domestic thriller which would be perfect for the summer time.

Who did I recommend The Babysitter to?

I recommend The Babysitter to everyone. I think this is a perfect domestic thriller for people who are new to the genre.

I would add some trigger warnings for abortion, child abduction and murder. If you are going to be affected by these issues, than maybe this book is not for you.

Overall thoughts

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I think it was a really well written, engaging and fun domestic thriller, with a really interesting plot. I definitely recommend.
