The Wives By Tarryn Fisher | Book Review

Today I'm taking part in the blog tour with HQ Books* for a really interesting and super shocking domestic thriller, The Wives by Tarryn Fisher. If that seems like something you would enjoy to read, then carry on reading.

What is The Wives about:

You’ve never met the other wives. None of you know each other, you see your husband only one day a week. Thursday. But you don’t care, you love him that much. Or at least that’s what you’ve told yourself…

And then, one day it all changes.

You thought you were fine with this, with only having a fraction of a husband. But you can’t help yourself, you start to dig. You begin tracking them down, the other days… Who is Monday and why does she have bruises on her arms? Is she being abused? By who? Her husband? Your husband?

What else is he keeping from you? And who is he, really?

What I liked about The Wives:

I really enjoyed The Wives. I thought it was a really entertaining and addictive domestic thriller. It was really engaging and I could just not put it down.

I also really enjoyed the writing style. It was really simple and easy to read which made the reading experience all that much better.

It was super fast paced and there was so much action, which I loved. In the past I have struggled with domestic thrillers because they lack the action which I love, but this one did not disappoint on that front.

What did I not like about The Wives:

Overall, I did really enjoy this book. However, the one main issue I had with this thriller was the ending. I can't go into too much detail without giving spoilers. But personally I would have preferred for it to have been ended slightly differently but that's just personal preference. Apart from that, I really did enjoy this thriller.

Who do I recommend The Wives too:

I recommend this book to anyone who loves a good, well written domestic thriller. I also recommend it to people who mainly read adult contemporary books but wan't to read more thrillers, I think this book is a great stepping stone between the two genres.

I would add, however, there are trigger warnings for miscarriage and domestic abuse. If that is something which you are not comfortable reading, maybe give this one a miss.

Overall thoughts:

Overall, I really enjoyed this domestic thriller. I loved the writing style and the amount of action it had, I just wish it had a different ending.
