20 Myths About Introverts That Aren't True

20 Myths About Introverts that aren't true lists lifestyle blogger UK buzzfeed

I think there are a lot of misconceptions about introverts out there. Primarily down to a lack of education I believe. People believe that introversion is simply about people who are shy, don't get out much and are crippled with anxiety. For some, yes, this is very much the truth for others, however, this isn't true at all.

An introvert is defined in the dictionary as "a shy, reticent person" which if I am honest I am not sure I 100% agree with. As reticent means that you don't like to share your emotions or feelings readily and shy, well you know what that means. Some introverts will happily talk to a massive group of people for an hour but then have to go home and stay indoors for the rest of the day as they are just too mentally exhausted. To me, I identify introverts as being people who get worn out easily by social interaction which is why going out and interacting with lots of people is often challenging, therefore, making them want to avoid such situations where they would have to display said behaviour.

In order to spread awareness of the topic, I thought I would share 20 myths about introverts that aren't true, enjoy!

Negative Friendships | #SpeakUp

Negative Friendships | #SpeakUp

Friendship is simply defined in the dictionary as being " the emotions or conduct of friends; the state of being friends." but we all know there is a lot more to the concept than just that. What if your friendship was good, but now as turned sour, or if your 'friends' are nice to you some of the time, in certain situations but not others?! Or even, what if the people you call your friends, you really can't stand and would rather be on your own. All these issues fall under the topic of negative or fake friendships, something which is likely to affect us all at some stage of out life's. Luckily, my experience with this has not been too bad, however, my lovely friend Sophie has experienced it and she wants to share this and advice on how to deal with these kinds of friendships with you guys today. Friendship is something that affects everyone from infancy to old age, it is, therefore, paramount that it was included in my #SpeakUp series! Enjoy!

Young And Lonely | #SpeakUp

Young And Lonely | #SpeakUp loneliness teenagers social media bloggers lifestyle UK

This is probably going to be one of the hardest posts I will ever write! But the main aim of this #SpeakUp project was to raise awareness of the issues that affect young people's health and wellbeing. One of those topics is loneliness! If I sat here and compared myself to an 80-year-old, it's strange to think that one of the main things we would have in common is that we are both lonely. Although very much believed that loneliness affects only the old, it can actually affect all of us. At any age, in any stage of our lives, all for different reasons! It is a problem that is sweeping the nation and therefore really needs to be talked about more!

#SpeakUp | Living With Long Term Health Conditions (PCOS)

#SpeakUp | Living With Long Term Health Conditions ( PCOS) thriftyvintagefashion blog lifestyle Uk

I think that on first glance this #SpeakUp topic may seem a really narrow, in the sense that it won't apply to many people, however, I don't think that is the case. Even though you may never suffer from PCOS or know someone that does, you are definitely not immune from all other long-term health conditions. I know I am not! I know many family members that suffer from long term health complaints and conditions. As well as this post being extremely interesting, to find out more about the condition. It was also extremely  insightful to see how someone deals with a long term condition and the process of diagnosis. Although maybe not an obvious choice of topic for the series, an important one nonetheless. You never know when a family member, friend or yourself will be diagnosed with a life-threatening condition, so I think it is important to raise as much awareness as possible of the emotional and phycological impact it can have. Today, Sophie is going to be telling her story of being diagnosed with a long-term health condition- PCOS.
