On Wednesday we set off in the cold and wet to Brighton for a short little break before I start college next week. A few very long and tiring hours later we arrived at Brighton seafront, after being stuck in every traffic queue going, Because of numerous roads being shut. When we eventually arrived, I am not going to lie to you, I wasn't that impressed, I come from the countryside, so going in to a big built up area was quite a culture shock for me. After walking up the pier and back again, getting pretty soggy we decided it was time to call it a day and head for the hotel.
On Thursday, we decided to visit the lanes after hearing never ending praises for them. My disappointment for Brighton so far was not changed by the lanes, Now unless I completely missed everything, the only shops in the lanes were naff tourist shops and jewelers! I did find tiger though which I was extremely happy about, and I am considering writing to them, to ask if they can bring one to my local town, as I don't think I can carry on my life without a tiger shop, near me.
On Thursday afternoon we traveled away from the city and in to familiar surroundings for me, of trees and fields to the Bluebell steam railway line. The railway station was set up as being very British and old fashioned almost like the 1940's/1950's ( Don't quote me on that, I'm not good with history), which I loved. After exploring the station, we trundled up the line twice through the clam and peaceful countryside.
On Friday, we were woken to the sun beaming through the curtains. Although it being are last day I made sure that we made the most of the south coast and we traveled along it, stopping at quite a few little seaside towns along the way. We stopped of that Brighton first, so I could take photos of all the amusements and of course the famous Brighton pier sign. It was very quiet and peaceful, which made it a lot more enjoyable.
I love the street art in Brighton. I only got a couple of shots, though if I had time I would of definitely of checked out some of the backstreets to find more.
We then stopped off on the way home at lancing, Worthing and little Hampton. Here are some photos from those places. Side note, I really want to live in one of the apartments in photo below at worthing!
Sorry these photos weren't my best! ( And no that's not a ploy to get you to comment. I was honestly really struggling with my camera and couldn't get any of the effects or shots I wanted!
Thanks for reading x
I hope you enjoyed this post. From next week on-wards I will be uploading a blog post at 17:00 on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
Have you ever been to Brighton? How did you find it? Let me know in the comments below!
Wow those apartments are beautiful! So grand! Shame that you didn't enjoy all of your time in Brighton, I've never been so I don't really have an opinion on it, but I'm sorry to hear that the lanes aren't all they're cracked up to be! I do want to visit Tiger though :) I'm heading to London soon so I'm definitely going to make it a priority to go! x

DeleteI typed out a huge comment and had to sign into my Google account and it deleted it -_- I'll type it out again!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE your photos!! They're amazing and so artistic!
I usually love Brighton (still kinda do) but I agree, recently it's been a little less exciting going there as it usually is! My brother hates walking around for too long so I haven't seen the lanes for years and I wish I could! But I'm not sure, after your description, they're as appealing!
If you're looking for a different beach to go to, I can suggest Bournemouth because the beach is so beautiful! (Especially East Cliff) It's still quite built up but if you walk further down its slightly less busy. But the beach in Bournemouth is lovely and sandy. I went there today and (although the weather was very bad) wish I'd had the time to explore more! (Harry Ramsden's is great for pie/ fish and chips!)
Good luck at college next week!! Xx
Thank you that means a lot! Yeah I have never been before and I only really saw it through the eyes of youtubers, I guess they can make it look as exciting. I had great exceptions for the lanes after hearing Zoella go on about how she loves to shop there, but the there is actually nothing in the lanes worth buying. But I should of checked it out before hand! Thank you for the recommendation, I don't think I have ever been to Bournemouth but I will definitely look in to visiting it next time I am around x Thank you
DeleteI would love to go to Brighton one day I think it has so much character! http://allofthethingsilike.blogspot.ca/

ah yes, I didn't see any unfortunately x :(
DeleteHahahaah firstly, I love the frank and honest review right at the beginning about Brighton... I didn't find Brighton to be that exciting (but then again I get bored very easily) but I'm glad you got some good time out of it :) there are some cute little shops and cafes which aren't too bad, but the Bluebell Steam Railway sounds lovely - what quaint photos! I did go on the pier to play DDR in the arcade though, so that was fun!

Haha thank you, I don't like to negative but I like to give my honest opinion. I didn't see any of the cute shops, I just kept going around and around in circles. I didn't get to go in the arcade :(
DeleteThese are lovely photos! I'm glad you have your honest opinion instead of just saying you loved Brighton just like everyone does. I think in terms of the Laines you should've tried going to the North Laines instead of the other ones because they have a lot more shops rather than just jewellers which I agree the Laines seem full of! I also can't believe you came to Worthing! I'm sorry to tell you that the apartments in Worthing are expensive and not actually that nice, Worthing just generally isn't that nice.
ReplyDeleteGood luck for starting college, I hope you have a great time!
I did go to the north laine but it just felt like a normal town center not something I traveled across the country to visit. oh I kind of liked Worthing, I admit there wasn't much going on but for a quick walk about, it was nice :) Thank you x
DeleteBeautiful photos. I have always wanted to visit Brighton but living in Manchester isn't exactly convenient! I'm a big lover of seaside towns so this post was right up my street. It's a shame your trip had a rocky start but I'm glad you enjoyed it towards the end!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with college :) xx

The Brighton pier is manly filled with amusements and cafes. food shops. Its also quite old x :)
DeleteGreat post! Brighton is lovely but I have to agree with you on the lanes. Everyone raves about the lanes but I couldn't see it. One of the best things about Brighton is definitely discovering tiger.
ReplyDeletehttp://lovingambition.blogspot.co.uk/
I was disappointed, there wasn't many retro/ vintage shops! Tiger all the way though :)
